About Us

"An antivirus program must be both comprehensive and simple at the same time. It must be clear and understandable; it should not be the master and decide what is best for me. Ideal software ergonomics are much closer with TrustPort Antivirus 2009."

TrustPort makes the Internet a safer place for children

Protecting children on the Internet is one of TrustPort’s highest priorities. Parental control technology is therefore a standard inclusion to the security software TrustPort PC Security and TrustPort Antivirus. This technology works on the basis of a continually updated database of web pages, whose content falls within certain inappropriate categories such as pornography.

According to the Eurobarometer survey, conducted between the months of October and December in all of the European Union countries, an average of 75% of children aged six to seventeen are actively using the Internet. The largest share of children using the Internet was detected in Finland (94%), the smallest in Italy (45%), whilst the Czech Republic had a high average of (84%).

Further results from the survey indicate that 60% of parents fear that their children will be contacted on the Internet by pedophiles, and 65% of parents worry that their children visit websites with explicit sexual or violent content. Noteworthy is also the statistic which shows that 53% of children are using the Internet whose parents themselves are not Internet users.

At the start of December, the all European Safer Internet Campaign was approved, whose aim is to improve the protection of children in the ever-evolving environment of online services. Both the European Parliament and its Ministers voted in favor of the Campaign. The Campaign’s main purpose is to prevent the Internet being abused against children, through the introduction of safer web and mobile technologies.

Commissioner for the Information Society and Media, Viviane Reding pointed out that children are now entering the world of Internet technologies at a very early age. “Because these technologies help them study and give them exciting new ways to socialize with others, they are often faster to use them than their parents. We need to make sure that whenever they use online or mobile services, they can recognize potential risks and deal with them," said Viviane Reding.

There is a wide range of internet content from which parents want to protect their children. These include websites with pornographic or violent content, sites promoting drugs or racism, sites offering gambling and many others. Parental Lock in products TrustPort Antivirus and TrustPort PC Security enables the reliable blocking of all unwanted and inappropriate sites.

For school and library computer networks, there is also the solution TrustPort WebFilter. This program is installed at the gateway to the network, and offers central monitoring and blocking of Internet browsing on all computers within the network. It can also be implemented as a part of a comprehensive security solution TrustPort Net Gateway.
