Can I shred even files that have already been deleted?

Yes, it is possible to shred deleted files. If the files are still in the Recycle Bin, click the TrustPort Center icon in the system tray, select DataShredder > Wipe Now. Make sure the Recycle Bin checkbox is on, then click the Wipe Now button.

If the files deleted are not in the Recycle Bin any more, right-click on the drive icon, and select TrustPort DataShredder > Shred free space.
